The current Emir of Qatar is Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who has been in power since 2013. Born on June 3, 1980, in Doha, he is the second son of the previous Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and his second wife, Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.
