And in Italy?
In Italy, the wind of change has not brought major disruptions: the Facebook, which holds about 75% of the national social traffic pie, a percentage well above foreign averages. Furthermore, Facebook , among the main social media, is the one that holds the most homogeneous shares of web traffic by gender and age.
Facebook and its power in Italy. When we think of the world of social media, the perpetually russian number for whatsapp beardless and sometimes even a little arrogant face of Mark Zuckerberg comes to mind, creator of one of the greatest flashes of genius of this century: Facebook. And we are right: according to recent statistics, Facebook is still firmly in the lead in the ranking of the most used social media in the world, with 1.59 billion active users every month.
The most used chat apps, needless to say, are Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger. Instagram, on the other hand, has a penetration of 12% (against 6% in 2015).
These macro data make us reflect and we are more and more convinced of our thesis: for a company that addresses an Italian audience, the presence, the constant activity and the advertising investment on Facebook are of essential value, or rather, the absence of all this is an incalculable disadvantage.

The recently published numerical data (2016, We Are Social) speak of at least 28 million active users on social media every day out of 37 million total Internet users. Of these, 24 million are active as mobile users: this is the fastest growing figure (last year there were 22 million accounts accessing from smartphones or tablets). An important figure for our beautiful country where active mobile users are around 80 million, around 130% of the total population!
